OSMS Teams Up With Jessica’s Heroes: Bring on Year 2!
Last year an opportunity for OSMS to support Jessica’s Heroes was presented. Students and staff proudly accepted this invitation to support such a wonderful woman and those who continue to honor Jessica Froelick.
According to the Jessica’s Heroes Foundation website, the foundation was “formed to honor and carry on the caring work of Jessica Froelick. Jessica passed away at the young age of 34 from Metastatic Breast Cancer.” Many of us in the OCSD, as well as the community of Oneida, were fortunate to have known Jessica and her family.
Jessica’s Heroes plans a variety of events, including a 5k Run and Walk. Last year on October 10, 2019, OSMS hosted their very own walk to support this amazing foundation. Students from the Student Council organized two days of walking the circle in front of OSMS on their lunch recess, as well as their 10th period. Various members of the community and OSMS staff joined students in the OSMS walk. Many members of the Jessica’s Heroes committee cheered participants on. Students raised over $600!!!
This year OSMS is excited to continue the tradition and again organize a walk here at school to benefit Jessica’s Heroes. We will adhere to social distancing and mask wearing. We are in the beginning stages of planning another few days of walking to not only raise money for a deserving cause, but most importantly to continue to show the students of OSMS the importance of being like Jessica.
