Frequently Asked Questions

Where do students wait after getting off the bus in the morning?
-
Grade 8 will wait in the hallway between the gym and the cafeteria.
-Grade 7 will wait outside in front of the 1st set of double doors on the circle (Entrance A)
-Grade 6 will wait outside in front of the 2nd set of double doors on the circle (Entrance M)
-In the event of inclement weather (hard rain, heavy snow, freezing temps), students will be moved inside.

If I drive my child to school, where do I drop them off or pick them up?
-All students are to be dropped off/picked up in the designated area which is near the turn-around at the end of Markell Drive. 
-No dropping off or picking up students near the tennis court parking area or in the circle. 

If a student wishes to purchase breakfast at school, how and where do they do this?
-
Students wanting to purchase breakfast should ask the bus monitor if they may enter the building for breakfast and should report to the café.
-When finished with breakfast, the student should return to the line out front.
 

Are students allowed to carry backpacks during the school day?
-No, students will not be allowed to carry backpacks this year. Please encourage your student to use their locker. 
 

Do students have to use their lock?
-
Yes, it is strongly recommended.  A locked locker prevents theft.
-Broken locks/lockers should be reported to Mrs. Ferrucci in the counseling office where a new lock/locker can be issued.
 

Where will students report on the first day of school when entering the building?
-
When the bell rings at 7:45, students will enter the building, go to their lockers and report to their regular first period class.
 

What schedule should students follow on the first day of school?
-
All students should be following the updated schedule received at Back to School Night (this will be on colored paper) or at first period class if they did not attend Back to School Night.
-All white schedules received in the summer mailing should be discarded.
-Be sure to follow Semester 1 on your schedule.
 

Does my child have to have a physical every year?
-
Physicals are required for all students in grades K, 2nd, 4th, 7th and 10th and all new students to the district.
-Physicals are good for a period of one year from the date they are given.
-A current physical is required to participate on school sports teams
 

Where do I report an absence, tardy or early dismissal for my child?
-
If your child will be absent for the day, please call the counseling office @ 315-363-1050 ext. 2 to report the absence and follow up with a written excuse. You can also email aferrucci@oneidacsd.org to report the absence.
-If your child will be dismissed early for an appointment, please send a written excuse with your child and have them stop at the counseling office upon entering the building first thing in the morning to get a pass to leave class.  They must sign out in the counseling office before leaving school grounds.
-If your child is late to school, please provide your child with a written excuse and have them report to the counseling office to sign in and get a pass to enter class.
 

Where do I call if my child does not get off his/her regularly scheduled bus or if there is a problem with bussing?
-
Contact the transportation department directly at 315-363-5470.
-If they cannot assist you, then call the middle school at 315-363-1050.
